This year we are collecting box tops for our school, which is a program that helps us gain money for things like supplies, events for students, or just things GMS needs. Last year we earned $60.00 for our school that we used to buy prizes for our school Drive Store. This year, we’d like to earn $500.00! Here are a few ways you can help us with this goal: 1. Place a Box Tops collection bin in front of your class or your business. You will be recognized as a drop-off location! 2. You can also help by donating products that we can use as contest prizes. We use them throughout the whole year and it’s a great motivator for parents and students to participate. To learn more and to see a list of participating products, visit BTFE.com. Thank you in advance for all your support! For more information contact Al Enriquez, School Parent Liaison, at 480-966-7114 ext 5817 or [email protected]. Thanks for your help! Retired as of last year, Coach Paul Dorman must be one proud papa. This year, his son went to Rio to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics. Sam Dorman won a silver medal in synchronized diving on Wednesday, August 10th. Mr. Dorman isn’t the only one who’s proud. The rest of the Tempe School District is also proud of their former student. Congratulations! The GMS Journalism class would like to welcome all students, parents, and staff to the 2016-2017 school year. We are looking forward to providing GMS news through the Roadrunner Report and the blog.

On March 3rd, Google came to GMS and they showed a presentation of an app to 7th graders in their science classes. This app is called Expedition and is sponsored by Google. It is a virtual reality experience using a phone in a cardboard box. There is a team that travels around the world and takes pictures of any place you can think of. These pictures are used to allow student to “visit” places all over the world. It was a great experience for GMS! By: Anthalis M. On March 1st 2016, Miss Arizona Madi Esteves and ASU soccer players Larisa Staub and Annie Warren came to talk to GMS students about healthy eating and breakfast. Students lined up, excited and nervous, to get a picture/ signature with our amazing guests. I asked each our guests why eating breakfast is important, and they said: Miss Arizona Madi Esteves: “I didn’t used to eat breakfast, but then I went to a doctor and he told me the importance of eating breakfast. Now I eat breakfast every day and I have a lot more energy.” ASU Soccer player Larisa Staub: “All I have to say is that breakfast makes for an excellent day." ASU Soccer player Annie Warren: “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and if you have a good breakfast you’ll have the energy to work hard.” |
