This year, 2015 to 2016, all sixth graders will receive Chromebooks for the whole school year. Students and teachers will be following certain procedures to make sure that the Chromebooks are taken care of.
“For this quarter of the year, all student Chromebooks will be located in their first period class,” states Mr.Gonzales, the Technology Integration Coach of Gililland Middle School. Students will take them to each of their classes by carrying them in their backpacks.
At this time, teachers are especially cautious with students and enforcing the procedures and rules to make sure nothing is harmed. “Eventually, they will be taking them home. And then taking them back to school,” says Mr. Gonzales. This gives the students more opportunities to do their work even if they are at home.
When 6th grade students are done with lunch, they have the option to either go outside or some students stay in and customize their Chromebooks.”They are currently able to do all their screen savers at lunch time,” states Ms.Gibbons, the principal at Gililland Middle school.
To ensure that students are ready to handle their Chromebook correctly, sixth graders are given training about how to use the Chromebooks safely and using the software through their classes.
